The Alliance
The Alliance of Youth Workers Associations (AYWA) is an international non-profit association established in Brussels, Belgium, in 2024. It is a network of National Associations of Youth Workers and Youth Work providers, united to advocate for the recognition, development, and quality of Youth Work in Europe. AYWA works to strengthen the professional status of Youth Workers, promote knowledge exchange, and collaborate with institutions and stakeholders to shape Youth Work policies. Through cooperation and collective action, AYWA supports a stronger, more recognized, and well-equipped Youth Work sector across Europe.
By establishing the Alliance of Youth Workers Associations (AYWA), the founding members aimed to bring together Youth Workers and Youth Work providers from national associations from throughout Europe and beyond, that share a common interest in Youth Workers’ recognition and Youth Work development.
Vision
The Alliance of National Associations of Youth Workers and Youth Work Providers will advocate for Youth Work recognition, development and quality Youth Work in Europe.
Mission
To ensure that the development of Youth Work and Youth Worker profession is guaranteed, valued and recognized in the realities of the member organisations and at the European level.
To implement quality standards and a code of ethics in the Youth Work provisions.

Aims
To advocate for the recognition of youth work as a profession and as a positive driver for change in the national realities in Europe.
To lobby for well-established national youth work policies and to encourage their implementation.
To contribute to identifying and defining quality standards in youth work, supporting the member organizations in implementing quality standards in their national realities.
To provide opportunities for professional development, exchange of good practices and capacity building for member organisations.
To encourage meaningful cross-sectoral cooperation for the progression of youth work.
The Alliance documents
On 18th March 2024 the Alliance of Youth Workers Associations (AYWA) was officially founded in Brussels, Belgium.

October 2023- An open informative meeting took place online with the participation of 8 more National Associations. As a result the Hungarian Federation of Children’s and Youth Municipal Councils has expressed strong interest to be part of the Association.
The members met in Arona, Italy, to finalise the statute and make clear steps towards the establishment.
January 2022- Members met in Thessaloniki, Greece and discussed (resulted) the form of the European Association, and its name. The Alliance of Youth Workers Associations (AYWA) has been born.
The KA2 Erasmus+ “European Youth Workers unite to empower youth and youth field” – "Youth Worker is a lifestyle“ has been approved by the Estonian National Agency. The journey of a European Association has started
The KA2 Erasmus+ “European youth workers unite to empower youth and youth field – Youth Worker is a lifestyle“ has been applied to the Estonian National Agency with a partnership of 9 National Youth Workers Association. The 4th result of the project was the establishment of a European Association for Youth Workers.
The idea of forming a European Network of Youth Workers has been planted
